What is surface free energy in interface science theory?

Surface free energy (mJ/m²) is expressed as the energy required to expand a surface per unit area.

In the field of interface science, there are very familiar interfacial phenomena in our daily lives, such as "wetting," "adhesion," "surface tension," "dispersion," and "emulsion." Surface free energy is a term used when the surface tension is composed of several forces. The surface tension of solids is often referred to as surface free energy, in contrast to the surface tension of liquids. While surface tension (mN/m) is the force required to pull a line of unit length, surface free energy (mJ/m²) is expressed as the energy required to expand a unit area, and although the units are different, the values are equivalent. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Optical bubble pressure tensiometer

You can also measure gelation concentration! We introduce a surface tension meter that adopts an optical bubble pressure method as a new approach.

The "Optical Bubble Pressure Surface Tensiometer" can measure the surface tension of gels, emulsions, and high-viscosity liquids that could not be measured conventionally. From the behavior of the radius of curvature in relation to pressure, accurate gelation concentrations can be measured. By adopting a new optical bubble pressure method, we have achieved high precision through an overwhelming number of measurements. 【Features】 ■ Adoption of the optical bubble pressure method ■ Ability to measure samples that could not be measured conventionally ■ High precision achieved through an overwhelming number of measurements *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

What is surface tension in interface science theory?

The "forces" of liquids: Various interfacial phenomena such as cleaning, wetting, penetration, foaming, and defoaming are due to the effects of the surface and interfacial tension of liquids.

Liquids are in a state where molecules can move relatively freely. Focusing on the molecules present at the surface (more precisely, the "interface" between the liquid and the atmosphere), intermolecular forces act not only between the molecules on the bulk side but also between the molecules in the atmosphere. However, due to the overwhelmingly high density of the molecules on the bulk side, the molecules present at the surface are constantly being pulled inward (toward the bulk side). As a result, it appears that a tension is acting to contract the surface. This is known as "surface tension" (more precisely, interfacial tension). Our company offers contract measurements for contact angle, surface and interfacial tension, friction and wear analysis, adhesion and film peeling analysis, zeta potential, anti-fogging evaluation, and more. Capillary Rise Method Surface Tension Meter 'Surfgauge'

A surface tensiometer widely used in research and development, as well as quality control.

The capillary rise method surface tension meter "Surfgauge Dyne Gauge, DG-1" enables accurate measurements by applying an ultra-hydrophilic inorganic film to the inner wall. This special coating possesses high anti-fouling capabilities and excellent self-cleaning abilities through flowing water. The main reasons why the capillary rise method has not been commercialized until now are: - The sample does not completely wet the inner wall of the capillary, preventing the liquid from rising to a sufficient height. - Due to its narrow tube design, cleaning after measurement is difficult. Our product solves these issues with the special coating, allowing anyone to easily and quickly perform measurements. 【Features】 ■ Excellent portability, enabling quick measurements in the field. ■ Measurement possible with a very small sample (a few μL). ■ Lower price compared to conventional surface tension meters. *For more details, please refer to the catalog or feel free to contact us.
